The Ranking and Pricing of Avastars
Avastars has pioneered a new technology that allows all of the artwork metadata to live natively on the Ethereum Blockchain. Learn more https://discord.gg/avastars and https://twitter.com/AvaStarsNFT
Once you have scrolled through and discovered an Avastar with desirable Traits, you can also view its Rarity Rank. This will give you an idea of the scarcity of that Avastar. We rank the Avastars on the same Rarity Scale as Traits, so they are designated Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Each Avastar is also assigned a score of 1-100, which is determined by the rarity of their Traits. For example, if a Common Avastar had 12 Common Traits it would have a score of 1, which is the lowest possible score of all Avastars. What is interesting is that a score of 1 would be difficult to find, although they're not mythical creatures. There’s a 60% chance that any 1 of those 12 categories will show up in an Avastar, so the math is somewhere around 1/1000 for the potential of a Common Avastar with all Common Traits to be generated.
Here is an example of how rare it is to see multiple legendary traits in Avastars. As you can see, the odds of finding a Legendary Avastar with 11/12 Legendary Traits is in the Octillions

-Pricing-
The prices for each ranking are locked. We've hardcoded that for Series #1. The price was set when Ethereum was about double the price it is today, and we were basing the price off that dollar value. With the way that the markets have crashed and everything going on with Covid-19, we decided that we're going to make less profit and keep the prices the way that we had them. We hope that this decision gives more people access to the game. As the price of Ethereum stands now the price of a Common Avastar will be about $10. We paid 10 ETH, a little over $2,200 at the time, to upload the art and metadata to the blockchain.
Gen1
.07 Eth - Common Avastar
.14 Eth - Uncommon Avastar
.28 Eth - Rare Avastar
.56 Eth - Epic Avastar
1.2 Eth - Legendary Avastar
Between having the art and the metadata on the blockchain we believe this is a very durable NFT for the price, especially with a limited run of 25,000. This NFT is the first of its kind, and even when Ethereum was worth almost twice as much, a $16-17 entry point seemed reasonable. At the current value of Eth, $10 for a piece of NFT history is likely to be desirable to a lot of people. We certainly want a return on our investment, but we also want our project to be exciting and obtainable for everyone. With the current world financial climate, it made the most sense to leave the price locked in and move forward with a strong rollout.
This concludes our 3-part blog series designed to give everyone a better understanding of scrolling, the mechanics behind character generation and Traits, and the ranking and pricing of Avastars. Soon we put the power in the hands of the community and see what happens with the creation of Gen1! As the rollout unfolds, we look forward to more posts and updates as we continue to dive deeper into this amazing project.
